Yia, I know how you feel to a certain degree. I used to be deeply involved in the feminist movement (for about 6 years) and it eventually burned me out and took a major toll on my mental health. I have decided for now (partly triggered by major life traumas and partly due to a growing feeling that online activism in feminism is doing more harm than good) to step back and focus more on one-on-one and local change-making rather than mass-audience online activism. It has been incredibly important and valuable to me.

Compassion fatigue and PTSD are major risks of working in social justice, you can also become a hard and bitter cynic who sees nothing BUT evil everywhere, and that robs you of all joy in life. Please take care of yourself too. Yes the world needs you but they don't need ALL of you, every day, every week, every year of your life. It's OK to step back for a time, it's OK to do other forms of positive change, if that means you survive and find joy in life. Because ultimately that's what it's all about, the kind of world you're fighting for, right?
