Yes I’ve felt this way myself. In my country there was a thing called “lock out laws” for a while where shops that sold alcohol were forced to stop letting in new patrons after 1am and needed to close at 4am.

Apparently that “killed the nightlife”.

Part of me wonders — why is “nightlife” only imagined to be clubs, bars and pubs? Why can’t there be all-night bookshops, coffee shops, art and craft nights, gaming, ice skating, dancing that’s more structured than “jumping up and down” etc?

I find the whole “get drunk in a hyper loud club” to be kinda boring tbh.
