Wow, even I, who know a fair bit about how bad the Bolsheviks were, how bad Stalin was, and how dreadful the Soviet Union became, fell prey to the “at least Lenin was less bad and meant well” myth.

It’s deeply disturbing to see how the far left has embraced Leninist concepts such as repression of free speech, “you’re an enemy if you’re not a sufficiently enthusiastic ally”, and “kill all those who are perceived as enemies”. I have no doubt that if these people got what they wanted, they would create another Soviet Union, or Communist China. And all who don’t agree with their ethos of violent reprisals against perceived oppressors, whether they be — neoliberal politicians, corporate fat cats, left wing politicians who believe in democracy, small business owners, workers who don’t want to murder their bosses, people who own their own home, people who invest in the share market, the poor who dislike violence, “fascists”, right wingers, centrists, liberals and fellow leftists who also don’t agree with killing everyone — “they get the bullet too”.
