Well said. Some people even go so far as to say a "cure" (whatever that looks like, as that word is applied to many different things), is tantamount to *genocide*. Which in my opinion, is ridiculous. When people talk about "curing" autism they mostly mean, something that allows autistic people to be able to better understand social cues, not be overwhelmed with sensory input etc. They aren't talking about radically replacing someone's personality, let alone killing them.

I support neurodivergence and a lot of what makes autistic peoples' lives difficult is society's ableism. However, there are some things about autism for many people which has nothing to do with ableism, and which would negatively affect someone's life regardless of whether society was perfectly accepting of autism. There needs to be nuance regarding this topic.
