Very well said. Too much of a focus on labels and roles is an ego-trap. Genuine spiritual seekers latch on to the idea that they are a "lightworker" or something else, and thus begin to see themselves as "better than" the unenlightened.

I'm always interested in how New Age cults form, because I've noticed that they often (not always but often) start from genuine good intentions, and the cult leader can sometimes be someone with as genuine a desire to help people as I feel I am now. And then over time, as they start to become seen as a guru, they fall into their own ego trap and may become monstrous.

I consider this whenever I have fantasies of becoming a guru or shaman one day, because I know that part of why I want to fill that "role" is from selfish reasons, I want on one level to be aggrandised, to be a hero, a saviour, a prophet, someone who changes the world dramatically for the better.

Better is the path of non-duality I think, because in that realisation of freedom and connectedness, the ego is seen merely as a character in a play, to toy with and have fun with, and dance with. I must never take myself too seriously.
