Two things helped me find meaning in my life

:

1. I fell in love with my soulmate. Everything in my life crystallises around my commitment to him. It's not that I am limited by this, it's that it's the nugget of certainty I have in my life, that all my future goals (including my personal ones that are just for me) swirl around. It stops me being paralyzed by having too many options.

2. I found my "true question". I read an article on Medium a couple of years ago that said every person has "one true question" that if they pursue it, will unlock endless curiosity, fascination and meaning. Each person's is different. Mine is "what is the nature of consciousness?" This question I pursue not because I need to, or to make money (my corporate job is unrelated to it), but because I am deeply and irrevocably fascinated by it. And the more I pursued this question, I unlocked spiritual enlightenment, a new perspective on existence, my understanding of death changed etc. It helps put my whole life into a particular state of deep flowing curiosity. My partner's question is "what ethical system leads to the best outcomes in the real world?"

If you figure out your "true question" it will help you find meaning, I think.
