Those joyful photos are the ones where our inner selves really shine through. As someone who has struggled with body image issues over the years, I sometimes care too much about my physical appearance. Whether my body is perfect etc. But I saw a video of myself recently and realised what most people see me as isn’t the still posed perfect image, but the vibrant, living, moving spirit embodying my flesh. And that is what people love about me, not the “statue” of my perfect pose, perfect angle, perfect expression, stomach sucked in, hips tilted etc. When I’m unselfconscious, laughing, curious, wondering, loving, absorbed, fascinated etc. That’s when the real me shines through the body.
And in that photo of you at your wedding, you and your bridesmaids are all shining through the body. We’re seeing your spirits not just the mortal form.
