This is why I think VR will never become the ubiquitous thing that Meta wishes it would. It's far too intrusive.
Instead of these big clunky glasses that wall you off from the world, why isn't there more of a focus for things like: smart walls that can act as "windows" between you and your friends' homes when you're long distance? Or can make colleagues feel like they're actually working together, without having to put on a heavy headset and ignore the real world?
I work in another country and I would absolutely LOVE to be able to chill out with my besties without it being on a small Zoom screen.
Technology works best when it's integrated into the world we already have, and the way people already like to live, rather than to replace it.
