This is very true. My parents taught me to read at a young age (4) and then they basically always surrounded me with books and always presented reading as incredibly fun. As such I read voraciously and widely, and I got into a selective school for high school without studying because my parents told me the day before "this will be a fun thing to do". My parents also loved reading for pleasure. It was one of the biggest factors in my academic success, the way they taught me that learning was inherently fun.
I got 98.7 in the Australian HSC, and now make plenty of money in my career. But best of all I have a happy life without too much stress. I have work life balance and I still find learning fun. <3
