This is not a neurotypical thing. It's a "some people, who can be either neurotypical or neurodivergent, who were emotionally abused by adults as children" thing.

My friend, who is autistic and has bipolar disorder, is a perfectionist. I used to be a perfectionist but after therapy and a mystical experience, it went away.
