There's already a clinical term for this: "adjustment disorder". It's not tied to family, or gender or any specific life event, but is a term that relates to the short term (usually less than a year) symptoms of depression, anxiety etc due to a specific traumatic life event. Contrasted with major depression which is chronic, adjustment disorders will go away with time and treatment, and are the brain and body's response to a major change or loss.
