The hypergamy stuff is a weird claim about women specifically - everyone wants to marry someone that will make their life and future better in some way, whether that be via financial security, emotional security, sexual pleasure, future family etc.

However women are individuals just like men are individuals, generalising a woman as being "hypergamous" by virtue of her sex is wrong because you don't know if it's true or not for that individual.

For example, I am the breadwinner in my relationship, my partner is in prison and even before that, when we met he was living almost on the poverty line. We bonded over shared values, deep friendship, attraction and emotional intimacy. My life is the opposite of a hypergamous woman lmao
