That’s beautiful. I think it’s helped me a lot in my writing, the idea that I don’t have to write a book in a year to still have written something.

Also I’m trying to let go of the idea that being a “writer” needs to be a part of my identity. I have a day job, I enjoy my day job. I am writing my novel because I enjoy writing it and I enjoy the act of creation. I’m ultimately writing this story for myself, and for my loved ones. And while I have fantasies of becoming a best seller, it’s not so much so I can be famous. It’s so that other people can enjoy a story that means so much to me, that I’ve spent years imagining and taking so much pleasure from.

When you remove the stress and anxiety from writing, and just do it for love, it’s so much better.
