So, according to you, hard work, education, good parenting, choosing not to be exposed to toxic media influences — those are all just luck huh? That’s not effort that’s “the lottery”? I mean it’s lucky I was born into a family like this but it’s not luck on behalf of my parents, who did the hard work.

I thought conservatives were supposed to believe in individual’s ability to rise above their situation in life? “Bootstraps” etc?

You’re sounding more like a liberal than me lol.

My family experienced things that ruin many people’s lives. Disability, debt, opioid addiction, poverty etc

And personally I have experienced a loved one being incarcerated and having to financially support him by myself, temporary family estrangement, working a minimum wage job to survive, then I got my tech job in sales *with the resume from my minimum wage job*.

I’m not saying that “if we can do it anyone can” but you definitely have a great deal of control over your life. Things like education, working hard etc DO MATTER.

Some advantages Australia has over the US include: interest free student loans that don’t affect your credit score and which you pay off as part of your tax as a tiny proportion of your income, universal healthcare, better welfare etc. If we were in the US I’m sure it would have been harder to rise so far.

That said your attitude seems to be quite defeatist, but I guess that makes you feel better about your life because nothing is ever your fault right? It’s either the government, or the feminists, or your sisters, or your ex wife etc.
