Right exactly. Harassment is definitely about power. Instead of being harassed what tends to happen is that random men are intimidated by me and don't even approach unless I approach first lmao. Or even if they approach in a friendly way they don't take liberties. They usually would assume I'm already "taken" or "out of their league".
The funny thing about my pretty privilege is that it only came to me when I was about 17. As a kid I was an ugly duckling, and was bullied at my first school for that. I had late puberty and got my period at 16, and I also developed an eating disorder around then (I am writing a series of articles on my recovery from that actually). I also had significant orthodontic work in my teens that changed the shape of my face over several years to one that is more conventionally attractive (I used to have a very severe underbite). So until my late teens I wasn't conventionally attractive and was considered a "nerd". Even now sometimes I look at my face and feel surprised by how beautiful it is. It's like "is this really me"? LOL
And of course what society deems attractive is definitely informed and shaped by classism, racism, and whatever cultural icons shape society's view of attractiveness (celebrities etc).
