Picasso was clearly a narcissist.

Also his paintings in a sense, are examples of how he tried to break down his beautiful muses, reduce them to ugliness, to suffering, to take them down a peg. He was capable of portraying beauty, but that would raise the women's self esteem too much, better to paint them looking nothing like they actually did, reduced to caricatures of their emotions.
