OMG were we watching the same Youtube video? I saw this exact conversation in a video called "from Tinkerbell to Faerie Smut - the Evolution of Fae" and someone said "the way Sarah J evolves from a spicy bite in the first book to porn in the second is straight up grooming" and I vehemently disagreed. Having smut in a book for teens is not grooming at all. Teenagers are horny and seek out sexually explicit content. It's natural and not harmful. Finding sexual content that requires nothing from them and doesn't have any expectations attached, ie through a book, is one of the safest ways to be exposed to sexual content. Because teens WANT to understand sex. They want erotica. They are curious and horny. I know I was. And the times I found smut in my fantasy books at school were very enlightening.
