Meat eating is a threat to life. The life of the animal. Your life eating it. And the life of the planet since clearing land for meat and dairy farming is the world's largest motivator for deforestation.
Veganism is not a standalone ethic, most vegans are also antiracist, pacifist and care about the environment in general. Vegans are also much more likely to be anti-tribalist and nondualist because they have recognised the barrier between human and nonhuman is merely a construct.
I also notice that whenever people use the “hunter gatherers are the real ecologists" argument against veganism, they aren’t hunter gatherers themselves, they just want to use that argument to avoid going vegan themselves. You’re not a hunter gatherer. If you did it, it would be a form of privilege entertainment too. Not done from necessity. And don’t delude yourself into thinking the deer wants to die. If it’s running away in fear, that means it’s trying to survive. If you kill without needing to do so, you’re not honouring the life of the planet. Humanity kills over 100 BILLION animals PER YEAR. Veganism just tries to mitigate that ecocide, speciescide.
