But in the quote you sneer at, it specifically says "although cavemen had the same brains we do, they did not have the same minds".
The point my partner was making is that while the physical structure of the brain appears to be largely the same since civilisation began, the way consciousness has manifested in the human brain has changed over time due to the evolution of knowledge in the collective consciousness.
For example the mind of a human before language was invented, was subjectively very different to the mind of a human in the modern world, since our minds are shaped by all the concepts, archetypes, language, stories, schemas that we grew up with.
