It's not Nazi-romanticising as it's WWI not WWII. Nazis didn't exist yet. And while you argue some of the soldiers in WWI became Nazis the main character as well as all the other characters who die horribly patently cannot have become Nazis because they DIED before Hitler created Nazism. The film mourns their deaths and all senseless deaths from war.

Also All Quiet on the Western Front is as far from a "war glorifying" film as it's possible to get. Nobody and nothing is glorified. In fact the idea of glory is shown to be a lie that destroys lives and keeps the war machine pumping.

That said I agree with you about snubbing Stephanie Hsu. She deserved Best Supporting Actress. The whole Wang Family should have won.
