It's a very crazy book. I am a very quick reader, but this book took me several months to finish. It takes about 10 minutes to read a single page. That said, it's an amazing book. Never read anything quite like it. It's a trip into the nature of subjective consciousness and the ways that different minds perceive reality.
For example in Infinite Jest you will find:
- a several page descriptor of a fly walking up a wall
- footnotes for days
- footnotes that contain their own footnotes and mathematical diagrams (seriously at least 10% of the book is footnotes and some footnotes are several pages long)
It's a trip. Definitely read it at least once in your life. But don't expect it to be like any other reading experience you've ever had.
