It could be that she was a repressed lesbian. I strongly suspect my homophobic mother has homosexual feelings that she's repressed (based on certain stories she's told me) and her sex negativity in general is very strong.

It could also be that Ellen G White was what we today would call "a sex repulsed asexual".
