In my opinion people in power's default should be to help suicidal people have life worth living. That should be their focus, always. Even if it's hard and costly. An authority telling a vulnerable mentally ill person "your suicidal thoughts are correct you should kill yourself and I'll help you do it" sickens me.
Terminal illness is a different story.
