I'm sorry Shannon I'm unfollowing you after all your Amber Heard coverage.
There are plenty of valid reasons that people don't support Amber Heard that aren't misogynistic. Plenty of people who initially supported her, that after watching her evidence fall apart in court live, after hearing her recorded admitting to hitting Johnny, after hearing witnesses explain how she abused other people including her own girlfriend in the past - doubt her story now.
While I do think there has been too high a swing towards Johnny in this (I think he sucks too and was likely very toxic to her, if not physically abusive as well) - the evidence shows that Amber Heard is a domestic abuser. Does that mean she couldn't be a victim? No. But this narrative that the hatred for her isn't because of actual bad things she did and is just because she "isn't a perfect victim"...
No.
Do you remember 2018? All the hatred that came Johnny Depp's way? The internet cancelled him JUST as hard as Heard is being cancelled now. I remember all my friends saying that we shouldn't wait for evidence, he should be cancelled and blacklisted and anyone who even suggested we should wait for more information was accused of "not believing women" and being a sexist abuse-apologist.
The backlash against Heard and the swing towards Johnny is higher than it otherwise would be, because of how viciously Depp was cancelled in 2018 based on claims that seem to have been at the very least, exaggerated.
I say this based on what I personally watched from the trial footage. Not from what I read in the media.
And most of the people I see who are hating on Amber Heard now, are actually women who initially believed her and supported her, who now think she cynically exploited their goodwill and the MeToo movement for her own personal agenda, revenge and monetary gain. They're angry because they feel duped by Amber Heard. Not because they secretly hate women or they believe that abuse is OK. The most upvoted comments I see from other women about Amber Heard tend to be from abuse victims themselves who say she has actually made their lives harder and actually done the cause of "believe women" great harm.
