I'm so sorry that you had to experience so much pain. It's so understandable that you would want anything that could ease the pain. People who are not in pain find it easy to judge. You tried to do all the right things.

My partner has severe back pain due to chronic rib subluxation (resulting from a martial arts injury and exacerbated by the joint instability of Marfans Syndrome). I'm so glad he has never taken opioids. However I wish there was some other painkiller that was safe to use that would be effective. It's scary to think that the only alternatives available might be "being in pain for the rest of one's life" and "becoming an opioid addict".
