I'm queer, and I am a writer, and while I agree that it's important to do your research and consult with people from communities you're trying to write, there is no one queer voice. A queer consultant won't represent all queer people either because we're not a monolith.

The best queer character I ever read (The Fool/Beloved) came from a fantasy series called The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb, who might be queer but certainly isn't openly queer. Hobb also depicted multiple other diverse queer characters in her Rain Wilds series.
