I’m glad that you’re confident and happy being single.

I think part of the issue with marriage is that society assumes marriage means one particular thing or trope. When it doesn’t have to.

I personally could take or leave the institution of marriage, and yet I want to marry my fiance. Why? It’s not because it would make my relationship better or worse, I think it’s more that it’s a ceremony of celebrating a commitment we already feel. I’ve read that commitment is a constant choice that we make every day. So marriage can be part of that for people.

But for others it’s not necessary.
