I'd be interested in your take on the Little Women sequels. Especially "Little Men" and "Jo's Boys" which are way more subversive than the original book. It depicts Jo (a successful and rich novelist) and Frederick running basically a commune and a place where freethinkers come to discuss issues of the day, as well as a "home for boys" who are troubled. It includes characters like a woman who wants to never marry but instead become a doctor, as well as artists and musicians. It shows various characters dealing with gender roles in different ways (a gay coded character becoming a musician, a troubled boy becoming a Native American activist after being in prison etc). I think reading the Little Women sequels would really add to your portrait of Louisa May Alcott. It definitely makes sense that she was a lesbian.
