I think your view on life is very clouded by your own depression right now Emily. Most people DON'T hate their lives. Many may feel a vague dissatisfaction, but many also feel joy, contentment, interest etc in their day to day. What may be seen as "soul destroying" to you, may be contentment to others. And that is not necessarily wrong for them, even if it may be wrong for you. Remember that all these people that you are judging as "pathetic" whose lives are "not worth living" (according to you) are you in another life because we are all one consciousness.
