I think we all want to live life without masks.

Normal life would be great. I am in Sydney where we're in lockdown, wear masks and are getting vaccinated. I do think at a certain point we will have to live with COVID.

But the pandemic does exist in Florida. In fact it's now one of the biggest epicentres for COVID now. Just because you don't see people dying on the streets doesn't mean COVID isn't running through the population.

"The Florida Hospital Association said on Friday that statewide COVID-19 hospitalisations are nearing last year's peak, and one of the state's largest health care systems, AdventHealth's Central Florida Division, this week advised it would no longer be conducting non-emergency surgeries in order to free up resources for COVID-19 patients.

Health officials on Friday announced that coronavirus cases in Florida had jumped 50 per cent over the past week with COVID-19 hospitalisations in the state nearing last year's peak."

I don't think lockdowns are the answer anymore. I think at a certain point the lockdown causes more damage than even COVID. But vaccination and social distancing, including masks indoors is a wise measure to keep up during the pandemic.

Masks outside though - even in Sydney we don't mandate that. Even the Delta variant doesn't really spread if you're outdoors and not super close to people.
