I think it's more that psychedelics tend to make people have mystical experiences and thus less tribalist. I used to be a leftist, but after psychedelic experiences (and bad experiences with the authoritarian left) I don't identify as any political tribe anymore. I instead believe everyone is part of universal consciousness and prefer to engage with people from the point of view of compassion rather than the "argh you evil right wingers!! Capitalism is so evil!!! Look at what Donald Trump just did!!! Can you believe how racist everyone is??" attitude that so much of the online left has these days.

I still believe in equality for all, racial justice, environmentalism, feminism, animal rights, and redistribution of wealth, I just don't identify as a leftist anymore.
