I must say it is a contributor to why I don't want to have kids. It looks awful based on these things I've seen. All these stories about mothers who feel that they have "no identity anymore" outside of being a parent, all those stories about how your body is ruined forever, all those stories about how your sex drive is gone afterwards, how you have no free time ever again, how your relationship to your spouse likely will suffer, how each kid will cost $1m to bring up to adulthood - plus my experience with my own mother who felt her career was destroyed by having kids, who got chronic health conditions and chronic pain because of having kids, who almost died from pre-eclampsia, who loved her kids but also ended up enacting emotional abuse on them so that most of her kids are now estranged from her...

None of it makes me think parenthood sounds appealing.
