I mean, sometimes it is OK to give up. The achievement focused culture of perfectionism in today's society is unhealthy.

It depends what one is giving up. Life? Never give up. Destroying your life for an unrealistic goal that less than 100 people in the world ever achieve? It's OK to give that up if it will make your life better to do so.

The other thing is that sometimes you can tell people what you think they need to hear, but they won't listen. And you try and change them but they won't change.

For example I've tried to help so many of my friends get healthy, see therapists, quit smoking etc and they just won't. No matter what I say. Someone won't change unless they truly want to.
