I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I understand when you say that "bypassing" is telling ANOTHER PERSON that their experience of reality is invalid.

But the original article we're responding to is talking about people "bypassing" their OWN emotions. And that frequently is used to mean that when someone says spirituality really helped them to come to terms with pain or helped them to feel joy even in hard times, people will say that's "toxic positivity" and I've even seen articles flat out stating that if you aren't suffering excruciating pain during your spiritual awakening, it's not "real" and is just "spiritual bypassing". For example this one:

"There is no other way to find deep spiritual wisdom except through pain. Pain and suffering shed layers of your ego till the illusions disappear and what you have is nothing but the truth." - Kimberly Fosu

https://medium.com/mystic-minds/a-painless-spiritual-path-is-not-a-real-spiritual-journey-acc4d2042ece

I've also seen people say that any spiritual articles that talk about how spirituality can be used to transcend suffering, is inherently "toxic positivity".

This is what I'm talking about. Not what you're talking about.
