I found a group of friends that fulfil both of these criteria, by joining a philosophy group. In my country we have something called Sydney Philosophy Symposia. We all meet monthly to discuss philosophy, and it always starts with a particular philosopher, but then that becomes a jumping off point for us to discuss any philosophical idea that comes to mind. It leads to spirited debates with many conflicting perspectives, all united by a shared love of the debate process itself, and philosophy in general.
