I feel this is disturbing. It means you don't need consent anymore. That's what anti euthanasia activists were afraid of. People can kill their unconscious relatives and claim consent because you don't need conscious consent anymore.

By the way, I am not anti assisted suicide. I think if I had terminal cancer and it became too painful I might well choose it. But I would want to go out consciously. I would want to be surrounded by loved ones. For there to be singing and a celebration of life on my last day. And it would be suicide, nobody else would bear the burden of my death.

I have sympathy for people who are so afraid they won't be able to give consent for this later that they kill themselves early. At the same time abolishing the need for consent at the time of death removes people's ability to change their minds. And it opens the door for people to be euthanized not because they want to but because their relatives want them dead. My dad is a doctor who works in nursing homes and the amount of kids who want their parents dead so they can get the inheritance is truly depressing.
