I feel like Shannon's article was more saying that neither Will nor Jamie were *actually fat*, and while it's totally possible that they can feel bad at the weight they were at, and want to lose weight to feel better, the fact that we see an at worst mildly overweight person in Will's case, or a not at all overweight but untoned person in Jamie's case and think "that's fat and thus bad" is a sign of how much society hates fat. Maybe I'm taking away the wrong message from it, idk.

Like, I think you absolutely should lose weight to feel better, and get healthy. What you're doing is healthy for you. And you should be proud of your progress.

I think on the other side, if you've experienced an eating disorder that involves a lot of shame and guilt, that seeing people call someone a lot thinner than you, call themselves fat and proclaim how miserable their life is (when they're not really fat, we're not talking someone 450 pounds), it's gotta be triggering in its own way.
