I don't think you're failing Shannon. You just aren't living up to all the expectations YOU set for yourself. But these are just goals that you set. They are not benchmarks for your worth as a person or as a mother.

As a kid, I never celebrated Halloween. We never carved pumpkins. Never went trick or treating. I don't feel deprived in any way. I don't think my mother "failed" by not taking me to those activities.

I highly doubt Sophie will remember all the things she may have wanted to do but didn't, instead she will remember all the things she DID do with you. And you do a lot.

No parent, let alone no person, is able to do everything they plan to do. It doesn't make you a failure. At all.
