I agree. I think it's a bit hypocritical to get so worked up about it as people who aren't involved in his life. I feel very sorry for Ariel. But ultimately the relationship is between her, Ned and also the "other woman" and her fiancee. The Try Guys are within their right to feel betrayed by their friend especially if they are also very close with Ariel.
But I doubt that Ned was faking his love for Ariel this whole time. I think he did love her, perhaps still does. And yet he still cheated.
I'm watching Mad Men at the moment and it reminds me of Don Draper, a serial cheater who nonetheless loved his wives sincerely at various points in the marriages, even while he cheated. I now see there's a lot more nuance to why people cheat and lie than "pure malice/selfishness".
That said, it doesn't make it hurt any less for the person on the other end of a cheating scandal. Ariel must be feeling awful, and she deserves sympathy. Whatever healing looks like for the Fulmer family, I hope they find it.
