How about neither of them should have been reprimanded for joking about/insulting another religion.

Speech is just speech. If people want to get violent and KILL people because someone said their prophet marrying a 9 year old was pedophillia, that's on them.

If people get their panties in a twist because someone satirised their Hindu god, that's on them.

If God is so all-powerful, speech can't harm.

At the core of both Hinduism and Islam is mysticism and the realisation of nonduality. Separation is an illusion.
