From what I understand your definition of a first time idea implies we need to be able to imagine God for ourselves and “prove” it to ourselves before disbelieving in it.

But I disagree. The god that atheists disbelieve in isn’t a first time idea we’re reacting to the ideas of OTHER PEOPLE that they call “God”.

It seems patently ridiculous to me to imply that we can only imagine God as a first time idea. It’s not. God is a million times idea, that has been imagined by billions of people in different ways over millenia. All atheists need to do is look at THOSE ideas, compare them with reality, and say “the evidence says this idea you have that you call God is wrong”.

If you disagree with me then I guess you must also believe that one can’t disbelieve in the literal existence of Darth Vader, the Flying Spaghetti monster, or any other fictional character.

There is a big difference between “the uncaused cause and what that could be” which our human brains will probably never know or comprehend or be able to define or properly imagine and therefore disprove, and “God as defined by religion”. Because “God defined by religion” is what atheists disbelieve in. The “God” that is not a first time belief but is described in religious texts and compared with the evidence we have about reality.

Do you get what I’m saying?
