Exactly I see the various March children as depicting multiple valid ways for women to live. Meg - finding fulfilment (albeit difficulty) as a wife and mother, while accepting being imperfect. Amy - artist turned patron of the arts, a selfish woman who learns to uplift others more than herself. Beth - devoted to music, spirituality and family, who likely would never have married even if she hadn't died young. And then Jo - becoming an independent writer, learning to stay true to her voice instead of writing the equivalent of clickbait, becoming successful, and then running a home for children with her supportive husband, where SHE is the breadwinner.
