Dude. Taking psilocybin when you are mentally ill (as your abusive partner clearly was) is EXTREMELY dangerous. You are lucky he did not become paranoid and worse on mushrooms. It genuinely could have triggered him and made him worse.
My partner, who is NOT abusive, had the mother of all bad trips on mushrooms back in 2017 and killed someone in a delusional state, believing the other person was a murderer.
That sort of thing is rare, but CAN happen on mushrooms. Set and setting is essential in order to be safe.
I'm glad that the mushrooms didn't make your partner more unsafe but for anyone reading this who thinks "mushrooms will cure my violent abuser" - there's a chance the violence could get worse. Do not do it. In fact, even if you AREN'T violent or abusive, there's a small but real chance you could become so because of psychedelic delirium. Look up the case of Thomas Chan for example. It's extremely rare, and most people have wonderful experiences, but you have to be careful.
I am a fan of psychedelics (LSD cured my eating disorder) but mushrooms can also destroy lives, depending on the mental state of the one who takes them. Please be careful.
