Do you think that there isn't a human sacrifice to lockdowns?
If people get vaccinated and are double vaxxed, or triple vaxxed, or wear a mask - they can still spread COVID. This is what's happening in Australia where we have huge numbers of Omicron cases despite 95% of the Australian adult population being double vaxxed (including myself). There is social distancing, there are mask mandates, there are check in codes, people are by and large all doing the right thing (in fact there is a self-imposed lockdown that is affecting the economy almost as much as our forced lockdown during Delta, that isn't stopping case numbers). And yet we had 80 000 new cases in my state a few days ago.
Going to lockdown from here would cause more harm than good. It would also cause more harm than good to stop kids from going to school, as many many scientists and paediatricians have been saying in Australia for a while now.
At a certain point (especially if you're vaccinated), COVID becomes the same level of deadliness to the flu. People still die of the flu, but we don't shut down the whole of society and punish the young and healthy because the elderly could die of the flu.
You say anyone who says this is a psychopath - but were you saying this about all the OTHER diseases that tragically kill the elderly and immunocompromised? Or are you just saying it about COVID, for some reason?
I'm someone who followed all the rules, I abided by some of the longest lockdowns in the world, I wear the masks, I got the jabs, and at this point I'm ready to start living my fucking life. That doesn't mean no precautions, no social distancing, but it is time we all started moving as a society towards living with COVID. And no I'm not a psychopath for saying this.
You however are a massive guilt-tripper and a closet authoritarian, claiming anyone who doesn't agree with you is a Nazi, psychopath eugenicist.
Nobody wants the elderly to die. Nobody wants the immunocompromised to die. Even antivaxxers don't want that. They just don't agree that they can save the life of anyone else by their actions. And I disagree with that which is why I got vaccinated. But at this point, it is on those more at risk of COVID to keep themselves out of harm's way, like they would for the flu. It is not fair that some people are sicker than others but just because some people are afraid to leave their homes doesn't mean the solution is "force everyone to be in an equally shitty situation because some people feel bad seeing other people having a good time while they stay indoors" anymore.
