Likewise re trans men there are several paragraphs in this very article that acknowledge what you just said. For example the trans man who was taken more seriously as a scientist when he came out as a man. Which makes me wonder if you read the full article before commenting.
In fact the article isn't saying that socialisation doesn't exist, it's more saying that it's not a "single linear experience that ends in childhood" and that it's a "two way street: as you are exposed to it, and you respond to it".
