As a cis woman, I don't find it insulting AT ALL when trans people dress femininely. I don't find it insulting when drag queens dress femininely. Why would I? I'm rather flattered that more people like femininity and want it to be part of their lives. If I was a man I'd be a drag queen.
Also as a successful business woman who enjoys wearing ultrafeminine colourful clothes, it's by no means a "costume of subordination" to wear a dress. Indeed I think women have a lot more freedom to wear what they want than men do, because men are punished for wearing feminine clothes, whereas women can wear masculine or feminine clothes and people don't care.
My dresses are flamboyant, sweeping, riotous, powerful. They express my flair for the dramatic and my personality. And I've never been disrespected by men for it, usually they admire me for being "out there".
