Are you suggesting that Stephen King is a racist/sexist/xenophobe?

In his books I don’t really see it. Especially not in his Dark Tower series, which gave us a mentally ill black heroine in a wheelchair who was nuanced, a badass, and not reduced to any of her identities, while all of them were important to the shaping of her character. Susannah is an amazing character, and I don’t think someone racist or sexist could have written her. Because she was written with empathy. Susannah’s race, mental illness, disability and gender affect her perspective on the world, she is distrustful of white men (and rightly so), and all of this is handled with a great deal of understanding. All of these things about her are important to know, but she is more crucially a person with a unique character, strengths and weaknesses, bravery and vulnerability, anger and love.

Highly recommend you read the Dark Tower series btw, it’s by far King’s best work.
