Another documentary I would recommend is "Unity" (sequel to "Earthlings"). It made me cry with how beautiful it was, and it also triggered me to go vegan (have now been vegan for 4 years).
Unity depicts how all suffering on earth is due to the belief in separation, which is the cause of all fear, prejudice, hatred and oppression. It charts the development of human compassion across history, from the first human rights thousands of years ago, to the accelerating progress in human evolution of consciousness as we reach the modern day. It shows how war, bigotry, capitalism, slavery, abuse, deforestation, and the animal agriculture industry are all connected to the belief in separation, and how the solution to all of it can be found in the realisation of our oneness.
Instead of making me feel bad about being human, instead at the end I felt profoundly uplifted, and hopeful. The last sequence of the film shows all these different perceived "opposites" such as man/woman, gay/straight, human/animal, Christian/Jew, Hindu/Muslim, rich/poor, self/other - brought together and the word HUMANITY becoming the word "UNITY"
Best documentary ever.
