Alternatively, it's called building a brand. You can have one brand for your day job. One brand that you want to be seen by corporate clients who search you up under your legal name. And another brand for your writing. One that will be unique to that. For example one of my favourite novelists goes by Robin Hobb for one of her styles of writing, Megan Lindholm for another, and Margaret Ogden in her personal life. When people search her books, they know what Robin Hobb books will be like, which is different from Megan Lindholm books, and is different from Margaret Ogden the individual living her private life.

It's also a way that you can talk about personal things including people in your life, without harming them.

Not everyone wants to hurt their families, or to have every flawed friend abandon them because of oversharing. We don't have to share every single wild thought or sexual fantasy with every single person in our lives. My corporate clients don't need to read about my kinks if they're searching me up for professional reasons. My writing fans don't need to search through stuff they might not be interested in, to read "Reverie's" work.
