Ah but you see, we were always going to die. Regardless. We all know we will die. None of us know when. This has always been true and always will be true.
We find a way to cope and live our lives regardless.
So I think it's not that unprecedented really. For every societal apocalypse is a personal apocalypse. One's own death. Which is always coming.
Most people are in denial about their own death. Climate change is just one more manifestation of this.
